About

That's me chatting with some local residents over a coffee

I’m Steve Reed, and since 2006 I’ve been Leader of Lambeth Council in South London.  I’m using this blog to tell you what I’ve been up to, what’s going on that affects our community, and how I’m working to improve life for people in Lambeth.

In 2010 I was elected Deputy Leader of Labour Local Government, and I’m the Board Member for Children’s Services and Education at London Councils.  I’m also Chair of Central London Forward.

I live in Streatham Hill and represent Brixton Hill Ward on Lambeth Council where I’ve been a councillor for 12 years.  I love cooking (and eating), I try and ride my bike as often as possible, and I’m happiest spending a sunny weekend out in the countryside with friends – and a tent if it’ s not raining too hard.

    Steve,
The FBU in London are fully supportive of your decision to post on your website details of Betty-Evans, as you are aware her decision to cross over to the Tories was nothing more than a callaous betrayel of those whom had voted for her. Her decision also enable to Coleman to push LFEPA into a bitter dispute with the capitals firefighters, therefore Local FBU officials and firefighters offer you full support in your fight over this matter. If there is anything we can do to assist you in this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Mr Reed,

I would like to hear your opinion on what can be done about fox trapping in your ward, particularly in the Brixton Water Lane area. Your fellow Cllr Keith Fitchett and his wife have openly expressed to residents their hatred of this species and how they have traps set up in their garden to catch them. Although this may not be illegal, it is highly immoral and it is disappointing to hear that it is allegedly being carried out by such a prominent figure in society. It begs the question of what he does with these foxes once they are caught, and just how Liberal he actually is?! Not a particularly live and let live attitude it seems!

I look forward to your comments.
